It’s Las Vegas-based Allegiant’s (Nasdaq: ALGT) debut at DIA.
“The addition of Allegiant to Denver International Airport’s growing list of airlines will provide passengers with another ultra-low-cost carrier choice,” airport CEO Kim Day said. “Regional flights are critical links for communities like Montrose, so we are excited to see another option to get to Colorado’s great Western Slope cities.”
Allegiant joins United Airlines as airlines Denver travelers can choose from when flying to Montrose this winter, which is located 66 miles away from the Telluride ski area.
Of course, if you’re really rich, you can fly on a private charter plane directly into Telluride Regional Airport, which doesn’t have commercial air service.
Mountain Aviation of Broomfield offers the service, which is not very cheap.
Telluride is ranked the No. 11 ski area in Colorado for average snowfall, according to Denver Business Journal research.
